Hyperdrive Sci Fi and Fantasy Film Festival

On 15th & 16th October 2016 Kate Madison and Neil Oseman attended the Hyperdrive Festival in Hailsham UK.   Only in it’s second year, the festival raises money for Demelza House Children’s Hospice and Smokey Paws and screens the films in the beautiful Hailsham Pavilion.  We were honoured to be opening the festival with a screening of our entire first season.  It must have gone down well because we won the audience award for that screening session! By the end of the weekend we had three awards in total.  As well as the Audience Award we won the Dez Skinn Heroes and Villians Award and Sophie got Best Leading Actress.  This brings our awards up to six so far! It was a wonderful event where we met some amazing filmmakers from around the world and saw some really impressive films, one of the best ones in Kate’s opinion was Jagon which you can see here.   Thank you again to the organisers for creating such a great event....

Comic Con Panel: Writing a Web Series

Ren‘s creators Kate Madison and Christopher Dane were invited to take part in a panel entitled “How to Write a Web Series” at last month’s London Comic Con. The panel took place in the VidFest dome and was hosted by Rochelle Dancel from Digital Creators UK. Here are some highlights. Following this panel on the Friday, the Ren team returned on Saturday to present their own panel. For this Kate was joined by director of photography Neil Oseman and actor Alan Hay (Torberry). The team took questions from the audience about the show’s influences and the most challenging shots, and screened an exclusive clip: the opening scenes of episode one!...

Ren at London Comic Con: Video

Last weekend the Kah’Nath invaded London’s Excel Centre as Ren came to the MCM Comic Con. Here’s what the team got up to at the UK’s largest pop culture convention. Director Kate Madison and costume designer Miriam Spring Davies represented Ren on the New British Web Series panel in the VidFest dome, alongside cast and crew from Year of Spies and The First Musketeer. Kate and Miriam explained Ren‘s Caxton studio set-up, and discussed the costumes, the extras and how the series is being promoted. Three videos from Ren were screened: the teaser trailer, the Daily Diaries trailer and an exclusive featurette introducing the key characters. Meanwhile volunteers Ivan Moy, Robert Myles, Edward Morley and Tindi Lewis donned outfits from the series to dish out flyers and show the trailer to as many people as possible. The team were also able to attend an interesting panel session with the makers of fantasy feature Arthur & Merlin, and Kate even got to meet YouTube icon Felicia Day, who was suitably impressed by the Ren trailer. This was the first in what we hope will be a long line of convention appearances for Ren as our audience grows. Keep an eye on our Calendar for future...

Ren at MCM ComicCon London

This Friday, in amongst the thousands of COSPLAYers attending ComicCon in London, you might find yourself face to face with the Kah’Nath Commander and his men when some of the Ren team descend on London.  We’ll probably be hanging around outside the front doors for much of the day but Kate Madison and hopefully Chris Dane will also be on a VidFest 2015 panel at 1pm talking about Ren alongside some other webseries creators.  In fact our very own DoP Neil Oseman will also be on the panel talking about his time as DoP on another ambitious series, The First Musketeer, which was directed by our Associate Casting Director Harriet Sams.  Yes it’s a small world! See the full VidFest Programme here:...
