We have released a video to update you all on where we are at with the development of Ren: The Girl with the Mark season two. If you prefer to read rather than watch, the transcript is below.

We’ve hit the halfway mark on our renew Ren mailing list which is amazing! Thank you to everyone who’s signed up so far. We really appreciate your support. I thought this would be a great time to fill you in on some of the things that have been happening over here at Mythica.

Myself and the three other members of the writing team for Ren season two have been beavering away for months now writing the episodes for the next chapter of our story.  Though we started out with five to match season one, currently seven episodes have been written.

Ashram Maharaj, Kate Madison and Claire Finn in a script meeting

Most of the episodes have already been through four drafts and those have now been sent out to various friends and colleagues for feedback, then we’ll go back and write drafts five, six etc. To give you an idea, the shooting script for season one was draft nine and we were still tweaking some scenes while we shot.

We’re really excited about the story we’re writing. Without being too spoilery, I can tell you that we’re following Ren and Hunter from the end of season one as they meet some new characters and together they travel in search of a way to remove Ren’s Mark so she can go home. We also have titles for each episode this time; episode one is currently titled “New Dawn” and episode two is titled “Friend or Foe”… and I’ll leave it there for now.

If you are interested in learning more about the writing process, I stream over on our Twitch channel on Monday nights from 6-7:30pm UK time. It’s a great time to chat about the latest developments, discuss and work on the scripts, explore history and timelines, play with maps and answer questions from you guys in chat.

We’re saving those videos, but not adding them to YouTube at this time, as we will be talking about things that will be spoilers for season two and some people might want those to remain a surprise. So for now we’re keeping YouTube as the more structured and produced content and the more fly-on-the-wall, in-depth, “watch us as we work” things we’re going to keep on Twitch. Let us know in the YouTube comments what you think of this idea.

So that’s scripts, but what else have we been doing?

Ivan Moy and Greg Satterford fly the flag for “Ren” at MCM London Comic Con

Well, here in the UK we just had MCM London Comic Con, so we headed down there with a bunch of our Kah’Nath soldiers to promote Ren. We had a great time and have made a whole other video about that which will be going up on our YouTube channel real soon, so stay tuned for that.

Also, you might not know that we now have a Patreon page, so if you just can’t wait for our season two Kickstarter and want to support us now, that’s a great way to do it.  Patreon helps with the day to day running of Mythica and the more support we get there, the more we can produce for you. We have some great ideas for short stories, stand-alone little films set in the world of Ren, and we also do giveaways on there.  For example, our Patron SJ recently got a personalised video – just for her – of our time at Comic Con.

OK, that’s quite an info dump so I’m going to round off, but because most of you who subscribe to us on YouTube don’t follow us on social media, as you can see you’ve been missing out a bit. We’re planning to correct that by giving more updates like this here on YouTube, but we highly recommend you check out our Patreon and social media accounts as well. (Facebook / Twitter / Instagram)

Thank you so much again for your continued support! Don’t forget to subscribe and hit that notification bell as we’re planning to release videos on a slightly more regular basis from now on, and if you haven’t signed up to our mailing list please consider doing so. Remember, this is your show to renew or cancel, and to be able to make season two and put it on YouTube we really need your backing. Thank you.
